Well, things are getting settled down, and I have to say that most of the class seems like they are really into the swing of things already. The past week we had our first session in the computer lab, and the library. We also participated in our first African Drumming lesson, started a unit in Science, had an introduction to our Dance program, and ran every morning as part of our school wide run. We finished the week off with our first group writing activity when we all wrote our own lyrics for a song, which we them sang as a group. It needs a bit of editing and polishing, but when we are done it might be worth breaking out at a sharing, who knows?
This week we will have a few new routines added to what we have been introduced to so far, and a couple of scheduling changes will have to be made to accomodate other changes in the school (our Gym times). The big news is the two trips we are taking this week. We still are short a couple of blue forms for the Library trip (the rescheduled one), and forms just went home for the Parliament Hill trip, so those also need to come in. This trip has a $4 cost, to cover bussing for students and volunteers, and we need the forms and money in by Wednesday to ensure that numbers all work out for the trip.
Just a reminder that the Terry Fox Run date has been changed. The form and pledge sheet for that event went home on Friday.
For our two trips this week, and the Terry Fox Run, volunteers are very much needed. Please let me know if you are available to come along for any of these excursions.
Just a reminder that the CASC barbecue is this Thursday. It will be a fun event for everyone, so bring the whole family.
Thanks to everyone who made it out for the parent meeting this past Monday. I hope that many of your questions were answered. I apologise if I looked a bit haggard at the time, but my son Arlo had been up the whole night before, and was home with a fever until Thursday last week, so I was feeling a bit worn out. I think that things are off to a great start, and we will have a lot of wonderful things to share and talk about when we get together at the end of the school year again as a group.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns by writing a note in the agenda.
Have a great week,
Ray
