Happy New Year Room 308 families! Today was an icy start to the new year, and the result was a small group of students in class for most of it. From the stories I did hear, it sounds like everyone had a fun and exciting winter break. I heard a lot of sledding and skating stories, so it sounds like it was an active break for most. I just want to mention that this week there will be no Literacy Log work coming home. I will be sending these home next week, and a special lit log assignment will be coming home in two weeks, so keep your eyes open for it.
We are in the process of organizing students to prepare for our living museum event. This is basically a social studies project that will have our students pairing up to explore a topic (from medieval times for the grade 4's, or an ancient civilization for the 5's), or a few topics (which they will compare and contrast) and then prepare themselves to present their topic as if they were citizens from that civilization/era. More information will be coming home in the coming days (ie. dates for the museum so that parents can come and tour), so stay tuned. Right now we are making sure that students have a plan/proposal, and that they are on the right track to get things organized and start preparing for the museum date.
Finally, a big thanks to Martin S. for the video link below, where you will find a pretty great video of our "Latke" play from December. Thanks also to Noah (Jamie's little brother) for his camera man skills.
