What is going on...

Just a quick note to bring everyone up to speed on things happening in room 308....
Every student was asked to bring in a small box (soap box, cracker box, nothing larger than a cereal box) for a math project today.  Several students still have not brought one in.  Please send one in with your  child right away.
Our biography project is well under way.  Four preliminary pages were outlined in class, and we started the chapter on growing up last week in class.  This is a project that is happening in the rough stages in class (so we can assess the writing) and once the rough drafts are created, we will edit together, and some of the final copies can be typed up at home.  Most of this is being done on paper, so we can all access this at the same time in class (we do not have computers for everyone).  Please encourage your child to do some revision, or to work on organizing photos and captions, or a family tree, or a timeline at home, but the writing needs to happen in class for the first stages.
Our homework for this week will be a summary of the books that we just finished reading in class.  It will start tomorrow, and we will hope for them to be returned by Friday.  It should be at least two pages in length, but no more than four or so.
I will be out of the class on Wednesday at the We Day event with some Churchill students.
If you have any magazines that are relatively current (within the last year) and can spare them for class projects, please send them in.
Happy sunshine!
Ray
