Thanks to all who helped out on our trip last week. It was a beautiful day for a field trip to the hill, and we made great use of our day. We packed in some community outreach by taking a trip on the OC transpo (lots of riders were impressed with the class, and had a lot to say about their good behaviour and excitement about going to the hill), we passed our own bill, banning commercials during kids shows, through both the House of Commons, and the Senate, before finally getting Royal Assent and making it 'law', we had a huge game of tag, and a wild game of ultimate frisbee on the lawn of Parliament hill, we had an outdoor picnic (despite the chill in the air), we walked a couple of km, and we had a great guided tour of the Currency Museum. It was busy, but rewarding, and the class did themselves proud with their overall attitude and behaviour.
This week all the members of our class will be at school for the first time this year, so we hope to do some great group activities. Today Ashley, our co-op student (and former Churchillian) from Nepean H.S. started with us. She will be around until the winter break. Today we also received our agendas and filled them out for the first time. Parents are asked to check them once a week at least (some will do every day I am sure) to see what is happening at Churchill. I will initial them each day once they have filled them out. We will be trying hard to get into a routine with these in the coming weeks.
We have no big homework assignment for the week, but some math work will likely come home one day this week.
Scholastic orders are due this Friday, and Sub orders are due Wednesday. We will be tallying them on Thursday morning during the first period. Any volunteers to help out would be very much welcomed.
Thanks, Ray
