After some discussion in class on Friday we decided that the date the class had chosen for the poster project to be handed in was a bit early for some of the students. As a group we picked Friday, October 15th, as the new due date for the project. Anyone who feels that they will have trouble getting theirs in by Friday is asked to please speak with Ray to make other arrangements.
Last week Sage from Bridgehead came in for a special visit to talk about the benefits of buying 'fair trade' products, who benefits from these products, and how buying them makes a difference in our world. It was an informative presentation, and fit in well with all that we have been discussing with the Grade 6 Canada and World Connections unit in Social Studies.
This week local MPP Yassir Naqvi will be visiting and speaking about the role of Provincial government in Canadian society. Our class has prepared letters to deliver to him when he visits, and we hope he will have time to address some of the students' concerns. This visit will fit well with the Grade 5 Canadian government unit we are wrapping up in Social Studies.
