It is hard to believe that seven weeks have gone by since I was in Room 308, but I am back, and the class looks great. Big thanks to Amy for doing such a fantastic job with the class while I was away. As much as everyone gave me a great welcome back, it was clear that they quite enjoyed their time with Amy.
My time off was very rewarding, as I was able to spend long days with Arlo and Jenny. Over that period he started crawling, so it was an exciting period to witness. We also, as you may have heard, took some time to visit friends in New Zealand, which was a fabulous experience. I have been sharing some of the stories from the trip with the class this week. It has been a busy week already, and there is a lot of interesting stuff on the horizon. This morning we had a great time with the winter carnival, which included games and apple cider for the whole school, just before our school wide winter walk. Later on we had an informative, and 'electrifying' special presentation from Hydro Ontario. Ask your children about the great tips they picked up. I am guessing that they will all be wanting you to test your GFI plugs very soon.
Monday we have a special workshop planned with a representative from Statistics Canada. It should be a fun morning.
Just a quick reminder that the canal skate is this week. We have a couple of volunteers confirmed, but need a few more to make the trip work out. Remember that we need all students and adults to be wearing winter sports helmets (hockey, snowboard, skiing, etc) while on the ice with the students. In the past we have brought a cooler of hot chocolate for the class to have after the skate. If anyone would be able to donate some hot chocolate powder for the class it would be appreciated. We would also need a volunteer to come a bit earlier to help mix up the hot chocolate. Let me know if you can help out.
It is good to be back, and I look forward to catching up with everyone.

Welcome back, Ray! Glad to hear you had a good time down under. Luke already checked the hair dryer and asked if all our bulbs were compact fluorescent :)
