Book Launch/Pizza in the Park

Thanks to everyone who turned out to our second 'annual' Book Launch and Bake Sale. It was a smashing success from all points of view. The students themselves were very much surprised by the attention, and the turnout. Almost all students had their comment sheets totally filled by people who stopped by to check out their wonderfully written books, and I can only believe that this did a lot for their confidence as writers, and their self esteem. Thanks again, and thanks for all of the baked goods that were sent in. We were able to raise well over $250 dollars to supplement the trip we took to MacSkimming.

Just a reminder that we have our own event happening in the park at Dovercourt on the afternoon of the Honouring ceremony. I have had one grade five parent volunteer to help with the reception for the grade 6 honourees, but I am looking for more who are willing and able to donate fruit, or snacks, or take charge of transporting jugs of water to Dovercourt for our "Pizza in the Park" lunch that will follow the morning ceremony. This will be followed by field events such as ultimate frisbee, sack races, jello relays and circle games.

Forms will be going home for this event later this week (in order to keep people from mixing it up with the whole school carnival forms which have gone home recently). Invitations to the honouring ceremony will also be going home shortly.

Three weeks left, hold on tight!

Regards, Ray
