Well, things got off to what I would say was a great start during our first four days of the 2011/12 school year. Perfect attendance (I'm always telling the class that the best way to learn things in school, is to be IN school), beautiful weather, some great getting to know you games, fun discussions, first art lesson (ask your child about the elements of design, this was our introduction to it), time capsule contributions completed, and ready to be sealed away for the year, our first four writing activities, reviews of addition and subtraction, introduction to media literacy. It was a busy first week, but everyone seemed to settle into the swing of things quite well.
Just a reminder to all Room 308 parents about the class meeting Monday (tomorrow) at 6:30pm in room 308. We will try to keep things moving, so we can have it all wrapped up by eight.
The school wide morning run program is starting this week. Forms went home on Thursday, and the hope is to have them all back early this week so all students can join in the morning run. The run will start just after eight am each morning. Any and all parents who are available are welcome to come out and join us.
Remember that this week is our trip to Carlingwood Library, and McKellar Park. Almost all the forms are in, but we only have two volunteers. We desperately need one or two more if we want to make this trip work. We hope to do another one or two in September, but if we can't get enough parents along we may not be able to make them happen.
Hopefully we will see everyone Monday at the class meeting.
Have a great week,
Ray
