Just a quick reminder that the family breakfast is fast approaching. We only have three confirmed families attending from our class. I know that the forms have not been home for long, but if you plan to attend, please get the form in tomorrow, so that CASC volunteers can confirm numbers before the big day.
Photo orders. Our photo day has come and gone, and we are collecting orders for photos. Please get them in right away. I believe the due date is on the envelope, and is this week. If they do not make it in by the deadline the delivery date for photos will be the same as the retake delivery date.
Math Freaks - I need a strong idea of what our 'hosting' numbers will be as this is an event we are running for the whole school. We are putting a lot of in class work into this great event, and the big payoff will be the evening when we are running the activities. That being said, I know that everyone might not be able to attend this event, so I really need to confirm who is in, and who is out, before we start delegating roles and responsibilities. Let me know ASAP about your child's involvement, either via the form that went home, or an email.
***On the topic of the "Math Freaks Come Out" night, we are gathering packaging to use for our 'Little Shop of Horrors' station. If you can spare a cracker box (not the crackers), or some other smallish product package, please send them in this week so we can get creative and get our shelves stocked.
We also will be looking for cool and creepy decorations for the front lobby on the Math Freak's evening. If we could even just borrow some cool decorations for the evening, we would really appreciate it. You could even take them with you when you go home after the event (or leave them up for the next day and keep the theme going for Halloween day). Please let me know, or send them in if you have something of interest for us.
Here is a link to one of the Social Studies videos we looked at recently. We are looking at Canada and our connections with the world through political relationships, social responsibilities, and economic decision making.

Here is a link to the book that has our class on the edge of their seats, and ASKING QUESTIONS like crazy to drive forward out understanding of the story. We are only halfway through, because we keep stopping to review what we have read, make connections, infer meaning, and make predictions.
Here are a few of the questions we have come up with;
Is this a post apocalyptic world?
Is this happening in the boy's mind?
Has this boy gone to school, or not, or is there another reason for his spelling?
Are the Woolves realy a metaphor for something else? (their words, not mine!)
Where are the boy's parents?
Why is the sky dark?
Is this about bullying?
Is the boy scared of school because of something that happened to him there?
Would the boy be this frightened if he had a friend?
Is the "Water" he borrows really water?
