The Magic Trunk of Rock!

On April 2nd 2008 rooms 308, 216, and 310 (all the grade 5 6’s) preformed a play called The Magic Trunk of Rock.

Ray , Tiiu, and Maggie were directing the play for us...All of us watched a play called The Magic Book. Then Ray, Maggie, and Tiiu told us that we were doing our own version of the play it was going to be called The Magic trunk of rock!!

So the expert writing group (2 people from each class of the 5,6’s.) got together for the very 1st time! We discussed and brainstormed all the ideas that we had for the play. After that we started to write the script for all of the “in between scenes”

The classes started to get together and work on our scenes.
We had to do different scenes of rock and roll. We were given a project called the history of rock and roll.

Each class was given two decades of Rock and Roll to research and come up with ideas that we can write into scenes for our play. Our class was given the 70’s and the 00’s, Maggie’s class was given the 50’s and the 80’s, and Tiiu’s class was given the 60’s and the 90’s.

It took a lot of work and brainstorming. Many parents, teachers, students, and student-teachers (Amy and Ashley) worked hard to create the sets, organize the costumes, and rehearse the scenes. At the last minute Jeff Bossert came in to help us out with a sound system.

We all worked very hard, and it all paid off. There were no small parts, or small actors in this performance. Everyone was a star.
