Mural Painting and more

The weeks are just flying by now it seems. In the past two weeks we have had two Square Dancing workshops, we led two songs for a school wide sing along (our class chose them and led them), we got back into our regular weekly Yoga instructions with Sheila, each student created their very own power point presentation, we had a special music workshop session led by Rory, Isaac F. gave us a special presentation on his summer canoe trip to see whales in the Gulf, and Max F. shared his extensive knowledge of First Nations travel through the river systems of Eastern Canada and beyond.
Currently we are in the middle of two projects. One we researched at school, and the students are completing at home this week. They all have handouts regarding it (it is their homework for last and this week). They are writing postcards from the point of view of someone visiting either an ancient civilization (grade fives) or a first nations community (grade sixes). Our other project will require some adult supervision, so let me know if you have some time to supervise this week. We are painting a mural on the wall outside our room this week. We are painting a Norval Morriseau painting, called "Shaman". The print was divided into eighty inch square portions, and each student enlarged two or three pieces to eight by eight squares to match the size of the blocks on the wall in our hallway. Now we need to have some supervision for the transfer onto the wall, and the painting process itself. Please let me know if you are able to make some time to come in this week.
This week we have an Olympic athelete visiting on Monday at nine. We also have I Walk Wednesday happening. Thursday is our canal skate, so anyone who volunteered to come out, or anyone who can make time, please get the skates sharpened, and come on out with us. And remember that this Friday is a P.D. day. With the Family Day next Monday that makes this a four day weekend for the students coming up. I hope everyone enjoys a well deserved rest ( and I hope we get some real winter weather so the skiiers and skaters can get out and enjoy it).
Regards, Ray
