Biography Project
This week we will be focusing on writing rough drafts of chapters for our biographies in Language. An assessment outline will be added to each student's biography folder for them to use as a guide when completing their biographies. It includes lists of Must Have elements for their books, and Nice to Have elements. Items that must be included in our biographies are: 1 - Front Cover 2 - Title Page 3 - Dedication 4 - About the Author Page 5 - Table of Contents 6 - Chapters 7 - Page Numbers 8 - Back Cover Items that might be nice to include in our biographies are: 1 - Copyright Page 2 - Photographs/Captions 3 - Index 4 - Glossary 5 - Synopsis (back cover) 6 - ISBN/Barcode/"Price" The criteria that will be looked at when assessing each biography are: Research - Evidence of sufficient research to support text Writing Process - Evidence of editing to improve, conferencing evident Organization/Focus of Ideas - Chronologically presented, one main idea for each chapter, content relates to the main idea Voice - Feeler phrases, descriptive vocabulary, personal connections evident Conventions - Punctuation, spelling, paragraph format Presentation - Crafted with care, visual details Learning Skills - Use of class time, deadlines met, initiative demonstrated in task completion We will continue to work on chapters for the coming week or so. Students will be required to start taking home unfinished chapters to complete by the end of the week, and the final editing and writing of the good copy will be homework over the coming three weeks. Each student has a planning checklist, including relevent dates, that they completed at the start of this project. The rough copies need to be completed by April 22, with the good versions submitted by March 6th. Keep posted for further details as the project progresses. Regards, Ray
