Three weeks left!

With three weeks remaining, it will be getting hectic at Churchill, that is for sure. This week we have a visiting author on Monday. It is thanks to Hazel's dad, Mike, that we have made this connection with Alette Willis, a children's author. Attached you can find a flyer from the book that will be available to students if they wish to purchase one during the visit ($8 I believe) We will be getting some insight into the process of writing, and the journey Alette took to become a writer. I am sure that many of our literary minded students will have questions to ask during the visit as well.

Just a reminder that forms went home for our trip to the National Gallery on Thursday. These all need to be back by Tuesday so we can confirm the numbers on the bus for our trip. The cost for this trip is covering bussing. We will need volunteers, so please let me know if you are available.

I have booked a trip to the Museum of Civilization for the 19th of June, to tour the First People's Hall, and the special Mayan exhibit. I will send home a permission form this coming week, but I wanted to get some feedback regarding this trip. If I can confirm enough volunteers for this trip (at least six) then we will take OC transpo to and from the museum. We did this with out first trip of the year, and I think it would be a great experience, and good life skill to build, to have us take it again. If you would be available to come for the day to the Museum of Civilization on June 19th, please reply to this email and let me know so I can plan accordingly.

We are halfway through the rough drafts of our Biography projects. The rough drafts should be done by the end of the week, and we will be looking at writing our good copies as a homework project by starting next weekend.

We have tried to collect enough clothing to do our annual recycled fashion show, but have not had much donated so far. Any unused clothing you can spare, please send in this week so we can do some sewing on Wednesday in preparation.

Happy Westfest. I hope to see many of you out on Sunday at the S of R show at 12:30pm on the main stage!

Regards, Ray
