Hello, and welcome to the beginning of our adventure in Room 308 for the coming school year. I would like to start by saying that I am very excited about the year ahead, and I hope that all of you are as well. I have enjoyed a busy, and fun filled summer with my family, and will find it hard leaving for school next week, just like everyone else. Arlo turned 3 just before the summer, and Otis turned 1 last week, so Jenny and I have had our hands full keeping up with them this summer. Otis went from walking a bit at the start of the summer, to running full speed by the end of it, and he loves to climb everything he can see (stairs, ladders, rock walls, fences!). I am thinking that school will be a bit of a rest for me to be honest! We will all be sharing some of our stories from the summer, so please try and think of something that you did over the summer, that you can share with the class in a few sentences during our first circle meeting Tuesday.
Things will get started with a bang next Tuesday, when we all arrive and try to organize ourselves for the first time. For those of you who don't know me, you can look for the guy with the bright coloured shirt on the playground (trust me, you will know it when you see it).
For the first day you just need to make sure that you bring your lunch, and water bottle, some comfortable shoes to run and play in, and a positive attitude. This is going to be a fun journey we all are embarking on, so get ready to get involved!
For parents, there will be a detailed welcome letter coming home on the first day from me. It will cover much of the class structure and plans for the near future. I am hoping to have our family meeting on the second Tuesday of the school year, at approx 6:30pmbut I need to confirm that still, so check the letter coming home the first day. It will also discuss things such as indoor and outdoor shoes, group snack, communication with the home, etc.
Again, welcome to Room 308. I am looking forward to meeting up with everyone next week. It is going to be quite a ride, so get ready for it! Enjoy your last few days of summer.
Regards, Ray
