This school year is fast coming to a close, but before we get all nostalgic and reflect on the fabulous success we have had these past nine months we still have one full month left, and lots to think about. Here are some of the events on the horizon for our class and the school...
Grade 6 EQAO - will take place this Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (June 1,2,3)
Room 308's Recycled Fashion Show - We will start re-designing later this week, and work on our designs for the following week. The date and time of our show will be weather dependent, but we are looking at the 11th or 12th likely.
Grade 6 Honouring Ceremony - Monday, June 22, at 8:20 am in the gymnasium at Churchill. Parents and family of leaving students are encouraged to attend this NON FORMAL ceremony. Leaving students will each share a few words about their experience during the event. We are looking for some grade 5 parents to assist in arranging decorations for the lobby, and light refreshments to follow. Please get in touch with Ray if you can help.
Pizza in the Park - Following the morning ceremony on June 22 the grade sixes, and their grade 5 classmates, will journey to Dovercourt park for our annual afternoon of games, and activities, as well as an outdoor lunch (pizza orders will go home with permission forms for those who wish to order). Anyone who wishes to provide snacks or treats for the afternoon's event is encouraged to bring them along and drop them off at the park on that day. We are looking for volunteers to help organize this afternoon event, and to walk over with the students.
The 3rd Annual Anna MacDonald Chalk Festival - June 15, in the afternoon. Our class will be organizing and arranging this event, which has become a favourite of many students. It will be an afternoon of creative fun outside (weather permitting) with some performances and sharing on the deck by classes and both the Junior and Primary choirs.
Room 308's Monday Movie Night - Monday, June 15, 6:30 pm, in room 308. This event has also become a tradition over the past 5 years, as a chance for our students to show their parents around the class one more time before the end of the year, and for all of us to share some of the year's highlights. We will show video and photos from the year, computer based projects by the students, and some class projects we have completed. Everyone is welcome.
So, as you can see, there is a lot to come before the end of the year. Let me know if there is anything that you would like to help out with, or any questions you have. Happy June! Ray
