Stone Soup Celebration

This Friday the students of Room 308 will be participating in a Stone Soup sharing with the kindergarten students of Michelle W's morning class. This has been a fall harvest time tradition for the kinders and thier big buddies.
We will be reading various versions of the classic tale "Stone Soup" this week in class, and discussing the ideas of trust, friendship, sharing, and community. The kinders will be talking about similar concepts in their class. On Friday students are asked to bring in a small ziplock baggie, or container with a cut up vegetable of thier choice. We need variety, but we do not need quantity, as we have potentially 30 students bringing in supplies for this event. These pre cut veggies will be added to a pot of vegetable stock, and cooked in the morning on Friday. We will sit down at a table, little and big buddies together, and enjoy this community made vegetable soup, and share some reflections on what we are thankful for in our community.
In addition to sending in a cut up vegetable or two, we also need a couple of volunteers to help with the cooking, the set up for the meal, and helping to serve the students. Let me know if you are able to do this for us. I also have had a few offers to bake bread to go with the soup. I think we have two loaves offered. If anyone else is up for some baking, please let me know.
Regards, Ray
