I am guessing that many of you have heard the news, this past Tuesday morning at 5:52am Jenny and I welcomed Arlo James Earl Kalynuk into the world. He was 3295g (7pounds 4ounces) and 20 inches long. Jenny and I enjoyed our last long weekend together, and were just firing up the barbecue when her water broke. We finished dinner and drove to the hospital, expecting to be sent home until the next day (Jenny was not feeling any pains or contractions at that time), but we were kept in because the contractions started coming, and came about every two minutes all night long. It was a long night, but rewarding. Jenny and Arlo are happy, and healthy, and except for all of us being pretty tired after these five days of fun, we are doing fantastic.
Thanks to everyone who sent their congratulations and good wishes. I was out for the week, but felt particularly lucky to have Amy Becker in as a guest teacher for the whole week. The class was in good hands, and I hear that they had a fantastic week with her. Notes went home with all grade sixes on Friday regarding EQAO for the week ahead. We also expect to have eggs hatching starting about Tuesday. In addition we will get back into the preparation for our fashion show, and the completion of our big school portrait project.
There are just four weeks left, so stay tuned for some important dates and events coming up.
Ray
