We will be reviewing tips on how to be successful when planning for a project such as this social studies assignment.
A checklist created by the students of Room 308, 2009/10
□ 1. Choose your topic
□ 2. Brainstorm ideas on paper. (how to present info, where to get
it, what materials you need, cool ideas to go with the topic, etc.)
□ 3. Research
o Books (library, school, friends, family)
o Search the web (reliable sites)
o Interviews (experts on the topic)
o Videos/shows
□ 4. Read and make jot notes from your research.
□ 5. Write rough copy
□ 6. Edit your rough copy
o Make sure it is in your own words
o Check the grammar (spelling, punctuation, paragraph and sentence structure, etc.)
o Read it out loud to see if it makes sense
□ 7. Get pictures or make illustrations/maps/graphs/etc.
□ 8. Make your good copy.
□ 9. Write out your bibliography information.
□ 10. Show it or present it to family or friends before you take it to
school (this way you can make last minute changes).
