Planning for a Project

We will be reviewing tips on how to be successful when planning for a project such as this social studies assignment.

A checklist created by the students of Room 308, 2009/10

1. Choose your topic

2. Brainstorm ideas on paper. (how to present info, where to get

it, what materials you need, cool ideas to go with the topic, etc.)

3. Research

o Books (library, school, friends, family)

o Search the web (reliable sites)

o Interviews (experts on the topic)

o Videos/shows

4. Read and make jot notes from your research.

5. Write rough copy

6. Edit your rough copy

o Make sure it is in your own words

o Check the grammar (spelling, punctuation, paragraph and sentence structure, etc.)

o Read it out loud to see if it makes sense

7. Get pictures or make illustrations/maps/graphs/etc.

8. Make your good copy.

9. Write out your bibliography information.

10. Show it or present it to family or friends before you take it to

school (this way you can make last minute changes).
