March Break!

Wow, the year is certainly flying by, with March Break upon us already!  There is a lot of the year left, and quite a few adventures in learning to come,  so I hope that this week off will recharge everyone's batteries and get them ready for the remainder of the school year.
To get off on a great foot we had a day full of music and team building today.  Our Junior Music Group got together to sing, and share Canadian music.  In language we wrote group poetry about Churchill, that really spoke volumes about how the student feel about their time at school.  We got together with several other classes to record a song.  A video of that can be seen at this link;

We finished the day with the culminating performance by the in house Blues in the Schools performers and the class that they worked with this week.
The highlight of the day was easily the gathering, packing, and sending off of the food that we collected in our food drive.  Today another large batch of food goods was brought in to top off an overwhelmingly generous mountain of food that we sent over to R.E. Wilson School today.  How concerned they were for these other Ottawa students, and how excited they were to see what they had done for them, spoke volumes about the generousity of spirit among our students.  They were so proud so see how much had been gathered, and everyone wanted to contribute to the packing and loading of goods in Megan's car before she took it over this morning.    Here is a photo of the load of food we packed up...

Megan shared with me this story after delivering the food.  She said that as students at R. E. Wilson were unloading the food from her car and taking it in to the office of their school, a woman came up, who the principal told to go right in to the office.  She then told Megan that this mother had been needing food for her family for two days, and that food from our donation would help her to make it through the March break.  I hope that the message that the class took away from the three day collection 'blitz' is one that they will keep with them always.  That small acts of kindness can really make a difference in the lives of people around them.
Whatever you do, and wherever you may go over the break, I hope that you have an enjoyable time with your family and loved ones.
Regards, Ray
